Entry & Fire Alarm Procedure

In response to a recent problem when a group member set off the fire alarm, please check the details below so that we are all aware of the correct procedures.

The Centre initially took a very dim view of this occurance and we are very grateful for their understanding and for allowing us continued use of this excellent facility.

French Language and Culture in Stokesley

'Bienvenue' to our 'French Language and Culture' website.

Do you want to speak better French, practice the French you already know or brush up your 'rusty' French?

We're looking for new members for the year beginning September 2009.

We're a small group meeting weekly in Stokesley Library during term time to learn and practice the French language and learn about French culture in general. It's a taught class with a structured scheme of work which focusses mainly on understanding and speaking.

We meet most Tuesday evenings during school term-time from 5.30pm to 7.30pm. See the 'Timetable' for dates when we're running.

There's a short break mid-way through. Bring your own drink / snack if you wish.

New Venue for 2009/10

Apologies for the last minute change, but we have located a perfect venue which provides us with all the equipment we need (data projector, internet access etc) for the same price as the library venue.

The new venue is the 'Springboard'  business centre on Stokesley Business Park. It's very easy to find and quite a distinctive building.

For a map and directions, please click here or click 'Locations' on the left-hand menu.

What level is the class?

The level is (very loosely) 'A' level(ish) and is pitched at adults (over 18s). There are no formal exercises or exams - it's all purely for fun.

If you can get the gist of a French newspaper article or TV report, your level of French will be fine. If you can understand every word of an article, you're probably going to find it a bit basic for you.
